Oriental Bonnet Girls

 The size of these patterns are all single block size which is 

 22 inches high x 15 inches wide , including the 1/4 inch seam allowances.

Traditionally cotton is used in making quilts, but these lovely Bonnet Girls could be made using silk fabrics if you are adventurous. Embroidery floss techniques are used for the hair combs and to accent the fans and faces.

Oriental Bonnet Girl from China

Ming Ming     $6.50

Ming Ming holds a shawl that could be made from wool or silk.  The shawl could be made in 3-D applique.

 Peonie    $6.50

Peonie is dressed in a beautiful kimono with sash and obi. A small applique fan completes her outfit. Embroidery is used to make the hair combs.

 China Girl    $6.50

China Girl also holds a fan, but unlike Peonie, her robe is much looser with only a sash and her sleeve linings show.

Jade is a tall elegant lady. Embroidery floss or ribbon is used to accent her hair. 

The fan has embroidery appliqué lines.

 

 

Kung Chen    $6.50

Kung Chen is tall and well dressed. His station is proclaimed by the fan in his hand.  An elegant hat sets off his wardrobe.

 Velvet  or silk could be used to trim the sleeves and collar.

Lily    $6.50

Lily the flower girl greets Peach Blossom and gives her a gift of flowers. An oriental bonnet covers her face. 

An oriental arbor is quilted in the background.

Jasmine has a beautiful flower kimono accented by a contrasting obi.

 Embroidery is used to make the hair ornaments.

        Hariko    $6.50

Hariko and Jasmine could be made facing each other.  Hariko has a very large and decorative obi.
