Memories of Grandmother's House

Every girl who has had a loving grandmother remembers something special about grandmother, whether it was the warmth of featherbeds, the joy of sewing or the wonderful aroma of things baking in the kitchen.

The size of these patterns are all double block size

22 inches high x 30 inches wide, including the 1/4 inch seam allowances.

Caroline makes the bed with a new quilt, child playing Bonnet Girls Sisters get ready for a party at grandmother's
Caroline's Quilt        $13.50

Caroline makes the bed with her patchwork quilt. The flaps of the quilt are constructed separately and tacked to background at the top edges for a 3-D effect.

Billy plays with kitty on the floor. The rug and pillow are shadow appliquéd. Bedroom furniture is included in the pattern.

Quilting design lines determine the pattern in the blue wall paper.

Sisters        $13.50

Rachel pours a pitcher of warm water for Chris to wash her hair while Molly brushes her hair in the mirror.

The Sister's hair is made out of fabric and accented with contrasting small outline embroidered stitches.

The rug is made with Helen Scott's shadow appliqué technique. This technique is explained in her new AQS book,  Ladies' Day Out.

Dinner time at Grandmother Bonnet House Quilting bee party at grandmother's
Dinner Time        $13.50

Dinner Time is always an enjoyable event for the Bonnet Girls.  Ellen carries the plates, Jill sets the silverware while Marcella changes the flower arrangement and baby Beth plays with a spoon.

The bonnets and dress hems are decorated with double rows of embroidery stitching.

Quilting design lines determine the pattern in the wall paper.

Quilters        $13.50

The fun of an old fashion quilting bee is recaptured in this block. You can hear the laughter as these Bonnet Girls (Samantha, Nettie, Joan, Mary Ann) stitch and enjoy their time together.

Shadow appliqué  for the lamp light brightens the room  for ease in rethreading a needle.  Embroidery appliqué sets off the wall clock amd the cat plays with the quilting thread.

Grandmother's sewing room Bonnet Girls help grandmother cook in the kitchen
Sewing Room        $13.50

Lola is sewing on a treadle sewing machine as Louise helps Kim try on her new outfit.

The pieces in this block are embroidery appliquéd. Quilting lines make the design in the wall paper.

Shadow appliqué  is used to show the rug where the dog is resting.

Grandma's Kitchen       $13.50

Grandma's Kitchen comes to life as Grandma shucks fresh corn while Aunt Em prepares a hearty stew.  A lace valance highlights the window behind Grandma.

A  pot of embroidered flowers sits on the window sill.  Miss Kitty playfully watches an embroidered satin stitched mouse under the stove.  Shadow appliqué is used in the rug for the stove.
